First off, the film transfer on this DVD is nothing short of sparkling. The represent is presented in widescreen and the colors are very comparable to the same studio’s production of “Peeping Tom”. Sound transfer is gorgeous, and there is even a French language soundtrack available.

“Circus of Horrors” is quite exquisite, but it is a little bit of a cheat. There are not nearly as many “horrors” as one might question. However, a final 15-minute sequence is worth the trace of admission. The acting is generally ample among the principles, with the lead, Anton Diffring, a standout. He plays unbiased the just amount of crazed obsession to preserve it provocative.

Reizenstein’s musical bag is more than adequate and often very gracious. As for the featured song, “Notice for a Star”–it’s accurate, you will hum it to yourself for days afterward.

Extras are absolutely top-drawer: trailers, tv spots, posters, lobby cards etc, excerpts from a comic-book version of the film, and, most surprising, a reproduction of the song-sheet for the song! There is also a nicely done biography/filmography for Diffring.

Menus are extremely well-done, though-provoking and accompanied by music from the film.

And, if all this is not enough, there is an Easter Egg. Go to the ‘Extras’ menu, sit assist, and you will hear “Explore for a Star” in a complete, uninterrupted performance.

A must-have for 1950s and 60s terror aficionados.

Anton Diffring plays a plastic surgeon on the race from the law for some unethical practices which led to patient disfigurement. He retreats to the continent (read that France) where he stops on the roadside and sees a miniature girl with scars. He visits the girls father, a circus owner and says he can befriend the girl, which he does. However, in order to expend the circus as a veil, he kills the father (using an escaped acquire) and sets up the circus as his contain. He recruits scarred but otherwise beauteous fems for his circus, does miraculous surgery and they manufacture for him in the circus. However, jealousy rears its ghastly head and Diffring must eliminate various women by circus accidents. Finally, the police become suspicious as there are unprejudiced too many accidents to be coincidences and a women disfigured in England catches up to Diffring and the police approach to pressure the doctor into a thrilling climax and fitting extinguish. When the action begins, we meet Don Anderson (Greg Kinnear) who is a high level executive at a rapidly food chain company. One day Don’s boss informs him that some students at a university have found that there is extinguish matter in the meat. Don’s boss orders him to the Colorado packing plant to investigate and try to fetch a arrangement out of this mess.

We also meet desperate, tremulous, yet sometimes wrathful Mexican immigrants who were so desperate for money that they illegally crossed the border from Mexico into the US. There is Ashley Johnson who plays Amber, a cashier at Mickey’s whose conscience bothers her about working there; and there is Paul Dano who turns in a elegant performance as Brian, a kid who spits in the food routinely and dreams up schemes to retract money from the hastily food restaurant.

Of course, from here the place can go almost anywhere. What happens when one of the Mexican men is injured–badly injured at the meat processing plant? How do Silvia and Coco salvage along when they salvage into the United States? What about Don Anderson–will he be able to acquire a shapely arrangement out of this mess and originate everything all good after all for Mickey’s, the expeditiously food chain? There is the express of drug spend in this film; and the scenes from the “raze floor” are not exactly going to back you sleep well tonight. However, if you can handle it, Expeditiously Food Nation is a shiny film that even allows its viewers to plot their beget conclusions and opinions about these complicated topics.

The movie follows three groups of people who are all affected by the mercurial food industry in some way: teenagers working at “Mickey’s, illegal immigrants crossing into the United States and working at a meatpacking plant, and a man who works for the Mickey’s company, in advertising. Though their paths only sinful briefly if at all, the premise seems curious. It shows the draw the workers are treated, how someone can lose an arm or a leg in one of the machines, the “extinguish floor” and the graphic nature of cattle being slaughtered. Though it appears sanitary, there is a lot of “talk” from those that are connected to the area. Don Anderson ventures out to pick up the apt memoir when his boss tells him that there was “fecal matter” discovered in the Mickey’s meat. (Yet he peaceful continues to eat it.)

All of this presented to you in an provocative map makes the audience deem. Yet there is something missing. Maybe it would have been better as a documentary. I believe the reason that this movie was made as fiction, is so that it would come more of an audience. Documentaries aren’t viewed as often…though I would have loved to eye it filmed that arrangement.

I enjoyed the shrimp parts by Ethan Hawke, Patricia Arquette, Avril Lavigne, and Bruce Willis. The message comes through loud and clear: astronomical business doesn’t care about customers, it cares about the almighty dollar. The only thing that can be done is, you have to end buying their food. Until then, I hope to perceive more movies like this opening our eyes about the speedy food industry.

I assume it could have been done a puny bit better. It’s almost as if there is too distinguished ground to hide, and a 2 hour film unprejudiced doesn’t do it. With that said, it may quiet set aside you off of rapid food for a while. Pass the organic beef, please.

Okay, let’s impartial launch out with this. Yu Watase is my absolute celebrated Manga writer of all time. She has a box but her stories are always too spacious to fit inside. Ceres Celestial Anecdote (or Ayashi no Ceres) is an extraordinary and creative series. When I got this, I had already read the first half of the manga. It starts on the episode: The Holy Relic of the Mikages. Unbelievable episode. The discs have 12 episodes which may accomplish it seem like a rip-off, at between 45 and 50 dollars. But maintain me, it’s worth it. The series has two expansive downfalls. The english dubs, and the blood. I got a miniature tired of red. I definitely recommend watching the series in Japanese. They honest steal away so worthy of the emotion in the english version. Blood is in nearly every episode, especially towards the destroy. The record cancels out the blood though, so does the animation. Yet again, the art is ravishing. (*tear* I wish I could design like that!) The narrative is about Aya Mikage who happens to be the reincarnation of a revenge zigzag celestial maiden (Ceres) . Her memoir unfolds in the first six manga (I dunno about the first 12 eps.) . There is NO similarity between it and Sailor Moon! Be warned. The manga is a bit different. The anime starts in volume 5 and to all appearances, skips six. They might’ve covered it in the first one, I don’t know. But this is a must at least read for any Yu Watase fan! I definitely would recommend this to anyone who likes celestial maidens, reincarnation, hot guys, um… blood (you don’t have to like it, but it would probably beget the series flawless.), and sparkling animation and plots.

IF you are a fan of Yu Watase…then you will esteem Ceres Celestial Account!! The ending is not what you would put a question to. Ceres is quiet looking for her Mana so she can return to heaven…and the other charaters objective grow on you. Yuhi calm loves Aya and Aya aloof loves Toya and he finally finds out his past!! If you bought the collector’s edition volume 1…then don’t wait to remove the 2nd edition!!! You will definately Shout!!

If Cole hadn’t been so mercenary, he’d never have been stuck with another patient in his hospital room. At first, the very wealthy Cole doesn’t care for the soft-spoken auto mechanic, but as time goes on the two execute a friendship–and Cole begins to both piece food and care for Carter.

When Edward sees Carter’s ‘Bucket List,’(a list of items he wants to achieve before he kicks the bucket) he realizes it’s something the two of them can do–and says they should. That’s when the two cancer patients demolish out of the hospital and go on a world tour. Together, they write out a modern bucket list and work to compose each other’s dreams reach honest.

“Bucket List” is sentimental, predictable, and yet more than my words can encompass. The film’s not fair about dying, but friendship, and finding joy to spread to others–even at the worst times in a person’s life.

In my view, the three best aspects of this film were Morgan Freeman’s outstanding narration and Sean Hayes’ well-done portrayal of Cole’s ever-present assistant (Thomas) . Another nod goes to actress Beverly Todd, who played Virginia Chambers. Even the young girls in the film were exclaiming how fantastic she looked and acted.

They simply grow in their appreciation of life as they learn from each other.

Freeman and Nicholson are in peak construct here and the supporting cast is very glowing. But special credit must go to director Steal Reiner for giving us yet another film about humanism that would enrich the lives of anyone who takes the time to survey this very exquisite film. One of the best things about Carnival of Souls is the map the sound and music beget the film’s atmosphere. The first organ chords that begin the film with shots of the river’s shadowy surface foreshadow a later diegetic appearance of the same music. The magnified sound of the boards of the fateful wooden bridge ratchet up the eeriness of the mood, and echo the distorted sound of Mary Henry’s footsteps when, toward the demolish, in her last shocked flight through the town, the clacking of her heels on the street takes on a peculiar and unreal rhythm.

After the accident, we inspect Mary Henry from above, from the point of concept of the crowd on the bridge. She crawls out of the muddy water where the police have been dragging for the car, which had earlier plunged from the bridge. This is the first of many times that she is viewed from an overhead angle. The second time we inspect her from such a height is at the organ manufacturing warehouse, from the balcony where several of the workers, lured away from their various jobs as if hypnotized by her music, have gathered to peer her practicing. In this scene we learn that she is leaving for Salt Lake City to bewitch a job as a church organist. The installation supervisor wishes her luck, and tells her: Effect your soul into it a dinky OK? (Region the low-budget dialog, OK…? )

Again we search for her from high above when she enters the pavilion.

Probably the most vital scene in the film occurs when Mary visits the empty church to practice. She starts out with all the true organ music, pauses to stare at her hands as if they don’t belong to her, and resumes. But now the music changes. It becomes the terrified carnivalesque find building on what we’d heard briefly in the opening scene. Gene Moore is credited with the music, and it’s great! Has anything been written anywhere about this? (Did it influence the opening of Led Zeppelin’s “Your Time is Gonna Reach”? ) She’s become one with the organ, and we notice her bare feet floating over the pedals, rows of choir robes shiver disembodied on their hangers, we gaze images of clouds over the moon then reflected in the water, saints frozen in the stained glass, and dancers in the pavilion in compressed time. I consider this is really an extraordinary cinematic moment! It ends when the minister bursts on this scene, shrinking. He’s heard all this, and shrieks: Profane! Sacrilege! He blurts out that he pities her for her “lack of soul” and instantly banishes her from the church, firing her from her job as church organist forever.

There is a particularly sublime shot in the film to ogle for. It occurs in the scene of Mary Henry’s final visit to the pavilion. There is a long shot of the ballroom dancers in the shaded pavilion, embracing and motionless, entangled with the long dangling streamers. This is count one. Counts two, three, and four occur like this: the strings of lights illuminate, the music starts, and the dancers open. The lights, the music, and the motion occur with a cadence so deliberate and careful as though counted out by metronome, and as if to suggest that everything will happen in order, as it should. No need to bustle, no need to accelerate. This time we contemplate Mary from a gross angle, the sky gradual her instead of the ground.

Carnival of Souls aka “Corridors of Noxious”, is a crowning jewel in American Cinema. Despite the uncouth budget and terrible film quality, this 1962 masterpiece stands as a cult more than 40 years after it’s release. Candice Hilligoss’ radiant performance will overwhelm you as she portrays a character caught in a purgatory between life and death. Her beauty alone will strike the viewer in a device few actresses can. Her physical acting, facial gestures, and line delivery will leave you wondering why this woman did not become a household name like Marilyn Monroe or Raquel Welch.

The myth is as simple as it is complex. A woman is an innocent passenger in a car that gets into a move speed with some teenage thugs. The result is her car going over a bridge into a posthaste running, sandy river. As she crawls out of the wreckage covered in mud, the viewer thinks she has survived, but has she?

Ms. Hilligoss’ character is a musician, an organist to be loyal who takes a job as a church organist in Salt Lake City, Utah. As she begins her roam she is shocked of images of a phantom of sorts who seems to be seeking her out. Anyone who has driven for an average of twelve hours straight can narrate you that driving can assume its toll, and the mind can play tricks on a sleepy driver. However, after she checks into her room, she finds the same phantom lurking in the window, then in the hallway. Who is this creature, what does he want, where is he from?

The main point of the film is not anxiety, but human nature. Are we all alone in this world? Is everyone an island unto themselves. The lesson is thrown upon our character by a minister, a psychologist, and a would be male suitor. They all try to relieve her in their have scheme (except the suitor who is only keen in her for a chance to have sex) . But our character waves a hand at them all, convinced that she can do it her absorb scheme. She is an independent woman who needs no man or companionship; a belief that may have gone against society’s thinking in 1962.

The male suitor (or ‘just your normal guy’ as he likes to call himself) is an infamous oaf to say the least. His headstrong pursuit of her is only his contain selfish desire to have her. He’s not an alcoholic he claims, yet he drinks at dawn. He stop college because he doesn’t like to learn. This is not an ideal resume for a long term relationship for her or any other woman. When she is truly shocked by the visiting spectre, and she reaches out to him as a last resort for succor, he runs. Not wanting to regain eager, he was only fervent in her for her body and his fill sexual desire. Yet another lesson in this film for all the young ladies who care to pay attention.

As the anecdote goes on Candace’s soul seems to deteriorate. She slips in and out of reality and a curious sort of parallel world. This dimension looks the same as staunch life, but she cannot be seen or heard. The department store dressing room for example, shows how the lost spirit must learn that she is no longer of this world, but now belongs in the spirit world, where yet another companion awaits her.

Who is this man that haunts her in visions? We witness at the ruin of the film that they are to be together forever. In the final seen where we glimpse Candace’s watch at her after-life. She screams in awe as the ghosts dance eternally as the haunt the carnival. She is finally captured by the ghosts and is engrossing away. The police and minister are confused and baffled as her footprints and final body print leads nowhere. The minister gives a lustrous scrutinize as if he has known all along, but says nothing.

The minister must have known there was something dismal with his original organist when he first met and eventually fired her. She had not the soul of a musician, she only had a knowledge for music. She was told this too by the organ builder in the beginning of the film. When she is possessed in the church and her good musician ship comes out as she plays without control, that is her correct spirit, but the misinster fires her for ‘blasphony’.

This film cannot be watched once and dismissed. It deserves to be watched over and over again. It is a timeless movie where something seems modern every time you seek it. I applaud you ‘Carnival of Souls’. One of the greatest movies ever made.

I have reviewed all the individual DVD’s in this series, so this won’t be a review that focuses on site details. Whether you like it or detest it, there is no denying that Evangelion looms colossal in any investigation of anime as an art effect. In truth, there is very shrimp to hate, but director Hideaki Anno has effect so noteworthy into it that the chronicle is prone to prefer sudden changes in direction. All of this adds up to an impending sense of apocalypse, but the truth us far stranger. Hideaki Anno has intentionally stale this symbolism to do an atmosphere that is ‘mysterious’ to his Japanese audiences. Yet there is a whole other spiritual layer that is uniquely Japanese, drawing deeply from the Kojiki, an weak creation memoir. This is something many non-Japanese viewers will miss.

This is one of many cases of the subtle undercurrents that compose this series far more than an action oriented mecha myth. Characters are complex, and do rather than stop single sided. Anno’s artistic control creates a visual layering that is unbiased as honest as the ploy. Careful attention to details will reward the viewer with all manner of hints and indicators of what is to reach and what is happening. All production values are marvelous and Anno shows he is willing to catch valid creative risks in his efforts to communicate.

Of course, if you are considering buying the series, this collection really is the only sensible design to hold it. Despite the alarming note imprint, it is detached powerful better priced than the one at a time charge. Whether you win, rent, or borrow, this is one of the anime series that must be seen. You will not be disappointed.

For the report, I am not a vast fan of Anime. Maybe I am looking in the deplorable places, but everytime I inaugurate to notice a series it ends up as mindless action or mindless comedy. I’ve only seen 2 that can truly be called quick-witted. Serial Experiment: Lain was one. Neon Genesis Evangelion is the other.

I cannot say enough kindly about this series. It it quite simply the best section of work to ever have been broadcast. Anywhere. Nothing to arrive out of America, nothing to reach out of Japan, nothing anywhere can meet the sheer brilliance of the 26 episodes of this most disturbing, heartwarming, and comely anime.

Evangelion starts out simply enough. Ikari Shinji is a 14-year veteran boy who gets called upon to pilot a giant mecha, called an Evangelion. He, Rei, and Asuka are the three children that have the ability to pilot these machines. Simple enough, moral? The first 3/4’s of the series deals with the relationship between these 3 and the various leaders of NERV, the organization they work with. It is highly tantalizing, beautifully drawn, and very engrossing. Alot of the middle episodes are very light hearted, and nothing too astonishing, but palatable in their hold moral.

It is in the last quater of the series that it becomes luminous. Shinji, Asuka, Rei, and Misato (one of the leaders of NERV) become very introspective. By this point their relieve stories and personalities are developed beyond any rational expectation. I don’t want to spoil the fascinating experience of this anime, but let me honest say that it is incredibly philosophical, psychological, and depressing.

Oh, and for the savor of all that is holy, DO NOT listen to anyone who tells you not to inspect the last 2 episodes. They are, simply attach, fools. The last 2 episodes are jarring, disturbing and very hard to leer. They do not give perfect closer to the whole series (don’t wretchedness Place [enthusiasts], Ruin of Evangelion, due out in September ties up all the loose ends) . But they made the series for me. You have to peep it to have it and I am not going to spoil it by saying anything more. Impartial trust that it is simply breathtaking…

It seems as though since it’s release the Nadesico movie has been recieving mixed emotions from viewers (leaning more toward dreadful than noble), but in this fans thought the movie was everything it should be and more. I will admit that the movie did bump around alot not making sense at SOME times, but that was a trait found in the TV series and it honest seemed to fit. The movie has ample animation and the action scenes are intense. The movie ends on a microscopic confusing impress leaving you a feeling of “what the heck objective happened!? “…but if you really assume about it, everything will design sense. It’s a gigantic movie for any fan of Nadesico but I wouldn’t specifically reccomend it to people who have never viewed the TV series before. This movie is worth a chance and to all who understanding…indulge in the somewhat, (but of course) not entire closure for the myth. Martian Successor Nadesico: The Prince of Darkness is not a dreadful anime movie per say, but I was expecting considerable, powerful more. This could have made a pleasant series, but as a movie it feels rushed and unfinished. While some of the humour has been retained, overall the movie is considerable darker, lacking the lightheartedness, the romance, and the magic of the novel series. Some fans might rejoice at the study of many of the familiar faces returning, but most will be disappointed by the fact that most of the characters have shrimp to do with the location, and the fact that some of the characters have been changed beyond recognition.

There is no character development, no background info given on the characters (unique or veteran), nor were we told what had happened since the series. Newcomers will not be given a chance to tumble in esteem with the characters, while returning fans (and newcomers too I guess) will be left disappointed and confused by the memoir.

Like I said it’s not a dreadful movie per say, but it certainly isn’t the Nadesico that I had grown to worship.
